Keefer

Lois Hazel Taylor Keefer, 90, of Church Road, West Liberty, died at 7:25 p.m. Saturday at her home.

Born in Hallston, Brady Township, June 6, 1917, she was a daughter of Benjamin Pierce Taylor and Blanche Eleanor Gallagher Taylor.

She retired in 1978 from Slippery Rock University, where she worked in food service for more than 12 years.

Mrs. Keefer was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church for more than 61 years. She was active in her church and had been a former board member and Sunday school teacher. At her church and in her community, she was active in the service of others, including visiting the elderly and sick and helping with funeral dinners.

Surviving are a niece, Carol Ann Taylor and her husband, Donald, of Prospect; two nephews, Paul Edward Taylor and his partner, Neil H. Gosselin, of Wilmington, N.C., and James David Taylor and his wife, Jennifer, of Grove City; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 10 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Her husband, Howard Francis Keefer, who she married April 19, 1945, died Nov. 7, 1995. She also was preceded in death by a brother, A. Vinton Taylor in 1967, and a sister, May McCall in 1991.

<B>KEEFER </B>— Friends of Lois Hazel Taylor Keefer, who died Saturday, March 1, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
