Estella J. Niggel, 98, of North Washington Street died Tuesday at the Chicora Medical Center.

Born Oct. 2, 1909, in Harmony, she was a daughter of David and Clara Scheel Ketterer.

Mrs. Niggel was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Along with her brother-in-law, she and her husband owned and operated Niggel Brothers Meat Market in Butler until the mid 1950s.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, and she enjoyed crocheting and crafting.

Surviving are three daughters, LaWanda Hockenberry, Mrs. Daniel (Patricia) Coyle and Mrs. Ralph (Elizabeth) Pincek, all of Butler; two sons, Harold C. Niggel, Jr., of Fenelton and David Niggel and his wife, Susan, of East Petersburg; one sister, Mrs. Elianor Evans of Pittsburgh, one brother, Earl Ketterer and his wife, Donna, of Ocala, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, H. Carl Niggel, preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1951. Three brothers and two sisters also preceded her.

Niggel, who died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.Inurnment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Cremation services are provided by the <B>GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Monday at the Church to recite the Rosary.
