9:36 p.m. Monday — An alleged burglar was caught inside a West Diamond Street duplex.Thomas Lee Odom, 20, of Butler is accused of kicking in a window and breaking into the apartment. Police were called after a neighbor heard doors banging on the other side of the duplex.Officers found Odom in the basement of the apartment. He was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass and criminal mischief, and placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Monday — Someone between Jan. 14 and Monday stole paving equipment and scrap metal from Brandt Paving on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. A dozen berm plates for an asphalt-paving machine were among the property taken.Monday — Kenneth Goldinger of Kittanning said someone took his wallet that he had inadvertently left in the men's room at Davanzo Pizza in Clearview Mall in Center Township.9:50 p.m. Thursday — Richard Brake, 45, of Kittanning is accused in a hit-and-run crash after backing out of a Route 68 bar parking lot in Chicora and hitting a wall at the Chicora Veterans Memorial.He is charged with accidents involving damage to unattended property, driving with a suspended license, driving without registration or insurance, driving on a sidewalk, and careless driving.
9:04 a.m. Sunday — Three people were injured when a sport utility vehicle driven by Donald Kaminga, 19, of Romulus, Mich., struck an embankment and rolled over several times on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township, Butler County.Ryan Vuich, 18, of Flat Rock, Mich., a passenger in the SUV, was seriously injured; however, his condition was not known this morning. He was not wearing a seat belt.Kaminga, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. Another passenger that police identified only as a 16-year-old, suffered minor injuries. The teen was wearing a seat belt.
Monday — Two Templeton men were charged with stealing drainage culvert inlet grates and well drilling equipment in several Armstrong County townships.Michael Richard Johns, 20, and Shaw Matthew Anderson 25, allegedly stole five culvert grates, valued at nearly $2,000, between Sept. 13 and 16; police recovered the property at a local scrap metal business.Police said the pair, during the same period, also stole equipment and tools from a Howard Drilling Inc. work site in Boggs Township. They are charged with theft and receiving stolen property in the crimes.
