Monday — Andrew J. Moser, 31, of Connoquenessing Township was charged with having crack cocaine and other contraband stemming from a traffic stop April 12 on West Campbell Street.
Police said they stopped Moser’s car shortly after 3 a.m. for having an inoperable license plate light. While talking to Moser, court documents said, an officer noticed a “rectangular object” in one of his pockets.
He told the officer it was a pack of cigarettes. When he took the item out of his pocket to show police, the officer saw a small bag of suspected crack. He was later searched and found with a glass smoking pipe.
Moser is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Monday — Police charged two Butler men in the theft of a bicycle last fall on Mercer Street.
David N. Demharter, 20, and Zackary J. Delaney are both charged with conspiracy to commit theft, a misdemeanor. Additionally, Demharter is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
Three witnesses told police that they saw Demharter and another man pushing the owner’s green Mongoose bike, valued at $120, from the house about 4:20 a.m. Oct. 23, according to court documents.
Police said they subsequently identified Delaney as the man who was with Demharter that night.
[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
3:07 p.m. Tuesday — David J. Hindman, 23, of Boyers was caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop on Hindman Road.
He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and disobeying traffic control devices.
[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]
Monday — Lawrence B. Robinson, 20, of Turtle Creek, Allegheny County, was charged with vandalizing a vehicle on Rock Pride Drive in Slippery Rock Township.
A witness told police that about 11:15 p.m. April 5 he saw a man jumping onto the roof of a van. An officer later spotted Robinson, who matched the man’s description, according to court documents. The defendant ran but police stopped him in the student center parking lot.
Police said Robinson admitted that he jumped on and damaged the van. He said he did it, according to a police affidavit, “because he was dared to.”
He is charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
April 10 — Brandyn L. Gutauskas, 24, of Slippery Rock was charged with the theft of two credit cards last month from a home in Muddy Creek Township. He is accused of taking the cards March 4 and using them to buy car parts.
He allegedly racked up $1,627 in unauthorized charges, according to court documents.
Gutauskas is charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and access device fraud.
