Thursday — Levaughn Prowell, 19, of Slippery Rock was charged with a shoplifting incident earlier this month at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.

Police said Prowell about 6 p.m. June 6 while at the self-checkout aisle tried to make off with $198.75 in unpaid merchandise. She is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

[naviga:h3]Buffalo Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

June 18 — Catherine A. Kocak, 60, of Buffalo Township was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a crash last month on Bear Creek Road.

Police said Kocak about 7 p.m. May 26 ran over a street sign and several mailboxes along the road. She is accused of leaving her badly damaged car on an embankment following the wreck.

A trooper a short time later found the defendant nearby at her home on Linwood Drive. She admitted being involved in a minor accident while on her way home from the store, according to court documents.

She was eventually arrested for drunken driving after failing sobriety tests, and was taken to Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Allegheny County for a blood test.

Toxicology results documents said, indicated that her blood-alcohol level was 0.223 percent In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

In addition to driving under the influence, Kocak is charged with failing to immediately notify police of an accident, careless driving and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.

Friday — David A. Gathers, 26, of Emlenton was charged with drunken driving stemming from a June 19 traffic stop at North Broad and North streets. Police said they stopped him about 8:40 p.m. for a traffic violations.

Gilmore is charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

2:28 p.m. Saturday — Joshua J. Snow, 26, of Bruin was arrested on a bench warrant following a one-vehicle crash on Route 38 in Oakland Township. Police said he lost control of his car on the west road just south of Hohn Farm Road and overturned.

Snow was cited for driving too fast for conditions, He also was taken to Butler County Prison on the warrant.

8:31 a.m. Friday — An unknown hit-and-run driver did not stop after he backed into a gas pump at the Last Minute Mart on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township. The man is described as white, with white hair, and in his 60s.

Police said moments before the crash, the man bought food at the Subway restaurant in the store.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark blue Jeep, possibly a Cherokee model. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Route 19.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.

June 19 — Clecy E. Thompson, 28, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month on New Castle Road in Butler Township. He was pulled over about 12:15 a.m. May 25 for driving without headlights on and for crossing over center line.

Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the car, according to court documents, and Thompson admitted to having smoked the drug “within the last day.”

The defendant showed impairment during field sobriety testing, police said, and he was arrested. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital that confirmed he had marijuana in his system.

Thompson is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, disregarding traffic lanes and a lighting violation.

June 4 — A licensed gun dealer was charged in connection with an alleged theft incident earlier this year at his then at-home business in Slippery Rock Township.

William P. Midberry, 37, owner of Slippery Rock Outfitters, is accused of cashing a customer’s $1,795 check for a rifle and ammo that was ordered in March and then failing to deliver the items.

The victim told police that he tried unsuccessfully to contact Midberry “multiple times” after the check was cashed, according to court documents.

Police eventually spoke to the defendant who told investigators he would get the gun and contact the customer. But that never happened, police said.

According to the police affidavit filed with charges, a trooper went to the business and found a sign on the door that read, “Closed for illness.”

Midberry is charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of theft.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Clarion[/naviga:h3]

4:32 a.m. June 16 — A Parker woman was one of three people injured in a one-car wreck in Clarion Township. The accident happened when Shelby R. Ghezzi, 21, of Strattanville lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole along Route 66 just south of Interstate 80.

Ghezzi and her two passengers — Anna E. Amon, 29, of Parker and Zachary T. Hovis, 25, of Clarion — were all taken to Clarion Hospital with unknown injuries. Police said none of the occupants was wearing a seat belt.

Police cited Ghezzi for accidents involving damage to unattended property, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes, driving too fast for conditions and not wearing a seat belt.

1:55 p.m. June 13 — Vehicles driven by Michael R. Lefevre, 26, and Andrew R. Narless, 37, both of Kennerdell sideswiped one another on Route 208 just east of Route 8 in Barkeyville.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

5:45 p.m. Friday — A Butler County man was arrested after he allegedly refused to leave a home on Hollow Road in Wayne Township, after being asked to leave.

The defendant, Ryan J. Todd, 40, of Concord Township, was arraigned on charges of defiant trespass and harassment. He was placed in the Lawrence County Prison on $1,000 bail.
