The Butler Township commissioners approved a subdivision that combines three lots with the Butler Farm Show's existing property Monday.

The Farm Show purchased the three lots totaling 1.67 acres at the end of 40th Street more than a year ago and demolished a house on one of the lots, said Jesse Hines, township zoning officer.

A detached garage on the lot where the house was located will be demolished.

The Farm Show wants to combine the lots with a 46-acre lot that is part of its 105-acre property.

“At this point they are not developing anything,” Hines said.

He said the vast majority of the Farm Show property is in Connoquenessing Township including two-thirds of the 1.67-acre subdivision.

Ken Laughlin, president of the Farm Show board of directors, said that part of the property will be used during the annual antique show to display antique tractors. He said more than 200 tractors are brought to the show.

A couple of residents complained about stormwater runoff from the Farm Show property flowing onto their property.

Laughlin said additional drain pipes will be installed to handle the runoff.

In other business, the commissioners reappointed Fred Maihle Jr., Ernie Oesterling and Richard Schontz Jr. to four-year terms on the planning commission.
