Trio accused of assaulting, robbing man
State police Wednesday arrested a man and a boy wanted in connection with an assault and robbery of another man two days earlier in Butler.
City police later took custody of the pair — 21-year-old Sheldon L. Hile, who has no known address, and 17-year-old Alec D. Miller of Oakland Township.
They were booked into the Butler County Prison at 8 p.m., joining a third defendant, Tyler O. Lambing, 19, no known address, who was previously arrested in the case.
Police allege the trio followed the victim, Christopher Losser, 20, from a store to his home on American Avenue, where they jumped him about 9:40 p.m., Monday, according to court documents.
Losser knew all of the defendants before the incident, police said.
He told police that Lambing pulled up in a vehicle next to his and asked for $20. When the victim denied having any money, a police affidavit said, Lambing said, “get him.”
Miller got out of the front passenger seat and threw a punch at Losser. He missed. Losser, in self-defense, punched back, hitting Miller.Lambing is accused of telling his accomplices to “run (Losser's) pockets.”The defendants allegedly kicked and punched Losser. They drove away, documents said, but not before Hile took Losser's cell phone.Police later that night arrested Lambing in his vehicle. During an interview at the station, he admitted that he had driven to Losser's home with Hile and Miller.He claimed Hile and Miller kicked and punched the victim, but he denied throwing any punches. He also acknowledged that he knew Hile and Miller had Losser's phone.
All three defendants are charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft and simple assault. Miller is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bail. Lambing and Hile are there on $20,000 bail and $15,000 bail, respectively.Butler police Deputy Chief David Adam said Thursday that the decision to charge Miller as an adult — known as a “direct file” case — was made after consulting with the district attorney's office.Miller turns 18 in February.
