The Butler Township planning commission recommended approval of the Butler Farm Show's plans to consolidate property purchased last year with its existing property, which spans more than 100 acres.

The commission voted Tuesday to recommend that township commissioners approve the lot line revision and consolidation plan. The recommendation will appear on the agenda of the township commissioner's meeting Monday.

Ken Laughlin, president of the Farm Show board of directors, said the board acquired three acres adjacent to the existing property a year and a half ago and they want to consolidate it.

He explained that the existing property is a designated Agricultural Security Area and is protected from residential and commercial development. The board wants the same protection for the additional property.

“Once it's connected, it's all secured by Ag Security,” Laughlin said.

Aside from that, the board doesn't have any immediate plans for the new land, he said.

“We don't have any plans to do anything down there except maybe at some point expand the antique (tractor) show,” Laughlin said.
