[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Tuesday — Police reported they have a suspect in a road rage type incident this month on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township. The 25-year-old Forestville man, who police did not identify, is suspected of pointing a gun at a 36-year-old New Castle man about 10 a.m. Sept. 15.
No one was injured, according to a police report, and the investigation continues.
9:25 p.m. Monday — Michael W. Dienert, 32, was arrested after he allegedly shoved a 54-year-old woman to the ground during a reported domestic dispute at his home on Camp Fatima Road in Connoquenessing Township. The woman suffered an unspecified head injury.
Dienert was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail.
7:49 p.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Nathaniel P. Errington, 18, of Butler struck an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Linwood Drive in East Butler. The teen was wearing a seat belt and he was not injured.
Sept. 17 — Cole S. Warner, 25, of Hilliards was charged with drunken driving stemming from a one-vehicle wreck earlier this month in Clay Township. Police said he crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole about 3 a.m. Sept. 2 on Route 308.
Warner admitted drinking alcohol, according to court documents, and he failed field sobriety tests. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.092 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
[naviga:h3]Butler Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
1:42 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Andrew P. Freyvogel, 19, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on New Castle Road in front of the Target store. Ashley Mosse, 26, of Gibsonia was the other driver.
No injuries were reported but both vehicles had to be towed. Freyvogel was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
9:30 p.m. Monday — Susan Parkes, 56, of Butler was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck on North Main Street at Midway Lane. She suffered a minor injury.
The crash happened when Parkes traveled in front of the other driver, Angelo Dimichele, 57, of Butler, while making a U-turn. Parkes’ vehicle had to be towed.
Monday — Joseph W. McChesney, 53, of Adams Township was charged with illegally trying to buy a firearm at a Route 68 gun store in July.
Police said McChesney allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required July 14 when he attempted to buy a 12-gauge shotgun at Down Range Supply.
When his information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, he was denied the purchase.
McChesney is charged with unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor.
Monday — Kristin E. Tate, 37, of Butler Township was charged with felony shoplifting in connection with an August incident at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.
Police said Tate on Aug. 29 failed to scan 11 items of merchandise valued at $51.08 while using a self-checkout register. Court documents noted that she had been banned from the store in 2008.
Tate, who has two prior shoplifting convictions, is charged with a felony count of retail theft.
[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]
9:27 a.m. Tuesday — One person was hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Lisa M. Herbert, 25, of New Castle, one of the drivers, was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle with unknown injuries.
Police said Herbert was traveling east on Route 422 east of Stoner Drive when her sport utility vehicle struck the back of a tractor-trailer driven by David Clark, 46, of Enon Valley. Following the collision, the SUV hit a pickup truck.
The driver or owner of the truck was not identified in a police report. The report said Herbert was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.
