Butler stadium authority hires sales representative

The Butler Parks, Recreation, Grounds and Facilities Authority on Monday hired a sales representative to help raise revenue.

Authority board members unanimously voted to hire Deborah A. Tincha of Butler to the newly created position. She will be paid a 20 percent commission only under a one-year contract.

Tincha has 20 years of sales experience, said Cheri Readie, board president.

“I think she is more than qualified,” Readie said.

The goal is for Tincha to meet or exceed the $24,000 to $25,000 in sponsorship revenue projected in the budget, board members said.

The budget has not been approved.

Board members said Tincha will sell various sponsorships, suite rentals and promotions in Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.

In addition, the authority will have two employees from CareerTRACK working at the concession stand when it opens next week.

The employees will be between 18 and 24 years old and CareerTRACK pays their wages, said Dean Selfridge, park director.

CareerTRACK, which has an office in Butler, provides employment training for 18 to 24 year olds using federal Workforce Investment Act funding.

In other business, the authority is making final preparations to the field in the stadium.

Two pieces of turf for the pitcher's mound costing $600 each were ordered to replace the existing turf and mound.

The turf will be delivered this week and the work should be done by the weekend, Selfridge said.

The outfield grass is being seeded, fertilized and treated for grubs.

Selfridge said he met with a representative of TUDI Mechanical Systems of Pittsburgh to discuss converting the stadium lights to LED lights. Board members said they had questions about changing the lights and took no action on the matter.
