Not-so-friendly neighbors

jenniejacobson@earthlink.net

This morning, when my husband left for work, there was a note on our vehicle from our "neighbor." This note was a complaint because we are parking across the street from our house, and taking up space on "their" side. Now, last time I checked, the streets in Butler are basically public domain, and no one has their own parking spot on the street. Its first come, first served. I live on a very busy street in Butler, and our vehicles have been sideswiped on three different occasions, and also hit with a beer bottle someone kindly threw out their window. None of these people fessed up to hitting our car, they just kept going, but that is another rant. However, I should not have to justify to this person, who incidentally did not leave their name, why I park on that side of the street. They said that we should have the common courtesy to park in front of our own house. In order to park in front of our house safely, we have to pull all the way up on the sidewalk, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. I am saddened to see that people cannot have a little empathy, and become so inflamed when they are "inconvenienced" into having to walk a few extra steps to get to their door. With all the atrocities going on in the world, its a shame to see people act this way about something so petty. I grew up out in the country, and have only lived in the city of Butler for a few years. I would ask these people if that is how they want to represent the people of Butler... by being mean and ignorant about a parking spot, or by being an actual neighbor? By the way, as soon as I get the chance I am moving back to Chicora.
