Butler Area’s perimeter lockdown not safe
Butler Area School District responded to a threat on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with a modified perimeter lockdown. My understanding of this safety measure is “normal day” inside the building, no outdoor recess and no one in or out of the building.
If the campuses were locked down, why were parents there to pick up their children? That goes against the safety of a lockdown and is not the most effective use of resources and law enforcement. I was driving by Center Township Elementary (not knowing what was happening) at the time and traffic was so backed up, you would have thought I was leaving a sporting event in downtown Pittsburgh.
I would like an explanation to why you would allow so many people and vehicles on the campus property when the goal was to keep everyone safe.
