Betty Lou Hess, 67, of Berlin, Somerset County, died Wednesday at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born April 11, 1939, in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Elkins and Margaret May Deeter.

She was a 1957 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High.

Mrs. Hess was a member of the Berlin Brethren Church, where she was a member of the missionary society and a deaconess. She was a former member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Zelienople, where she served with the Willing Workers.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack Hess; her children, Mark Hess of Zelienople, Mike Hess of Anoka, Minn., Barbara Hertzler of Leano, Va., and Brian Hess of Calumet, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Deeter of Ocala, Fla.

<B>HESS </B>— Friends of Betty Lou Hess, who died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, will be receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Deaner Funeral Home</B>, 705 Main St., Berlin. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Berlin Brethren Church with the Rev. Eugene Oburn officiating. Burial will be at the Berlin IOOF Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Berlin Brethren Church, Berlin, PA. 15530; or to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Zelienople, PA 16063
