Vavro

Laurie Vavro, 73, of Butler, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was born June 17, 1953, in East Butler, and was the daughter to the late Maurice Rice and Gertrude (French) Rice.

Laurie graduated from Butler High School and worked as a medical escort at Butler Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed reading, watching cooking shows, cooking and spending time with her animals, especially her cats. Laurie was known for her wonderful sense of humor and love of picnics. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially celebrating holidays together and playing cards.

She is survived by her daughter, Jenna (Scott) Krainbucher; son, Justin (Christina) Vavro; grandchildren, Madison, Skyler, Sage and Sawyer; brother, Eric (Louann) Rice; and nephews, Matt and Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

VAVRO — A visitation for Laurie Vavro, who died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2026. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
