Marjory Leisie
Marjory D. Leisie, 87, of Cranberry Township, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
Our mother was born in a rural Georgia town where outhouses were more common than running water. She lived in many places (Cornelia, Ga., Coraopolis, Moon Township, and Callery) before building her forever home in Cranberry Township with our father, Frank Leisie.
She never forgot her modest beginnings and the humility, frugality and kindness that is bred from having less. She taught us to be tolerant, kind and educated. To read. To listen. To laugh. And to frequently tell those whom we love how much they mean to us.
Marge Leisie was primarily a mother, but during her life she was a waitress, a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, a nanny, a church secretary at Plains Church, and an EMT for Cranberry Township Voluntary Ambulance. She frequently told us, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” The pride she held from her military service ran deeply through her character.
The fabric of her life quilt was sewn through her children, their children and their children’s children. Her role as Grammy was legendary. She was one of the funniest, most generous and thoughtful people in our lives, which she fostered and encouraged within our family. These were also traits that she shared with our father and her husband of 53 years. Their love is eternal. We all share in the comfort that her and “Pappy” are embracing at this moment and enjoying the beautifully orchestrated lives they have created. We are forever grateful for their emotional, intellectual and physical generosity.
The silence of her home is final and deafening, but if you listen very carefully, you can still hear the voices of those who grew up there; the children and grandchildren who shared snacks, stories, fears, laughs and dreams from her couch as she listened and offered support with a hug.
Marge leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Matthew (Jacqueline) Leisie, Christopher Leisie and Ruth Leisie (Tim Rausch); her grandchildren, Kellie (Kevin) Gillespie, Sydney (Steve) Carson, Hannah (Brian) Roney, Kyle Leisie, Gretchen Rausch, and Ethan, Bailey, Michaela and Chase Leisie; her great-grandchildren, Kaya, Eli, Kenley, Bryson, Chance, Brinnley and Braden; and her sister, Dana Beers.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Bonnie Warren and Ruth Eckles Warren; her husband, Frank R. Leisie; and her sister, Gayle Beers.
