KARNS CITY — A refining facility was able to contain a spill Saturday morning.

According to Butler County 911 records, more than 4,000 gallons of mineral oil spilled at the Calumet Penreco plant off Petrolia Street.

Since the plant contained the spill, no emergency service assistance was required. The state Department of Environmental Protection notified the 911 dispatch center about the spill at 6:22 a.m.
