BUTLER TWP — A teenager is accused of attempting to attack her father with a pair of scissors during a domestic dispute Wednesday night at the family's home.

The alleged victim managed to wrest the scissors away and was not seriously injured in the incident around 7:30 p.m. on the 200 block of South Eberhart Road, authorities said.

Butler Township police later arrested 18-year-old Lena I. Maharg on felony and misdemeanor assault charges.

The victim told police that he and his daughter got into an argument after she got angry when he would not allow her to have a friend over at the house.

He recounted that she yelled at him and pushed him while he was seated at his desk, according to charging documents. She removed a pair of scissors from a container at the desk.

Maharg is accused of holding the scissors at the base of the handle and raising them up in a threatening manner.

The defendant's father grabbed her hand, took her to the floor and removed the scissors, documents said. The teen eventually got up and went to her bedroom until police arrived.

Officers described the victim's injuries as scratches on his right arm that he suffered while protecting himself.

District Judge Kevin O'Donnell arraigned Maharg on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She was released on non-monetary bail with the condition that she have no contact with her father.
