Trimayne Franklin

A man, charged with drug distribution in 2012, pleaded guilty in Butler County Court Friday and was immediately sentenced to what was ultimately a time-served sentence.

Trimayne K. Franklin, 30, no known address, pleaded guilty to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and was immediately sentenced to 9 to 18 months in the Butler County Prison by Judge Timothy McCune. He was given time served credit, and will be immediately released on parole pending the completion of a parole plan.

McCune also ordered he undergo six months of county probation following the expiration of his parole. He was also ordered to pay court costs.

Franklin also was initially charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, summary driving on a suspended vehicle registration and driving on a suspended license after an incident on April 30, 2012, in Adams Township. Those charges were dismissed as part of the plea.

Franklin was wanted on a warrant since that incident, when he was arrested in April 2017, following a shooting at a home at which he had been staying in the 100 block of East Brady Road, East Franklin Township, Armstrong County.

In that incident, two unidentified suspects attempted to rob a 33-year-old Atlanta man, before one of the men fired a gunshot, which hit the Georgia man in the face. Franklin allegedly ran out the back door, and was found by police at a neighbor's house.

He was also wanted on a bench warrant issued in July 2012 after he failed to appear in Butler County Court for a probation violation in connection with a conviction in a 2010 felony drug case, as well as by Butler police since March 15, 2016, when he allegedly fired a gun after trying to break into a home on Sumner Avenue in Butler.

In the 2012 incident, Adams Township Police said Franklin was driving a friend's car that had a suspended license plate on it when officers stopped it at Route 228 and Brickyard Road.

Franklin was found to be driving on a suspended license while passenger Jessica McCloskey, who owned the vehicle, was also found to have a suspended license. Both were allowed to leave but without the vehicle, which was impounded and a search warrant was later executed after a drug-sniffing dog detected possible contraband in the car, police said.

The search turned up suspected crack cocaine around the driver's seat, as well as more suspected crack in a high-top basketball shoe in the trunk, police said.

Franklin awaits further court proceedings on the 2016 shooting incident, where he was charged with felony criminal trespass, terroristic threats and misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person after an incident in Butler on Sumner Avenue on March 15, 2016.

Butler police allege that Franklin forced open a locked screen door before firing a round at the front porch steps area.

The last proceeding in that case, according to court records, was a bond hearing on Nov. 9, where bond was reduced from $75,000 to $1. That case is still listed as active.
