8:44 p.m. May 19 — Police said Rickey A. Otto, 49, of Butler was charged with drunken driving on West Brady Street near Broad Street. A short time before stopping Otto, the officer had been in line with the defendant at a West Jefferson Street store and allegedly smelled alcohol coming from him.The officer noticed Otto get into a car and drive away, according to court documents. Police said the defendant left without turning on the head lights and without stopping or slowing as he left the parking lot. While in his patrol car, the officer allegedly saw the suspect run a stop sign.Otto subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the police station where he refused to take a breath test, documents said.He was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, a lighting violation, failing to stop at a stop sign and driving at an unsafe speed. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.3:53 a.m. May 19 — Jolena E. Harbison, 39, of Parker Township was arrested after police say they found her with heroin and prescription drugs at the A-Plus on West Jefferson Street.Police were called to the store for a report of an intoxicated woman knocking items off the shelves, according to court documents. They found the defendant, who gave officers a bogus name. Police also learned that she was wanted on a bench warrant.A search of two purses belonging to Harbison turned up four stamp bags of suspected heroin, six clonazepam pills and four Suboxone strips. She did not have prescriptions for the clonazepam and Suboxone.Also found were 3 drug-smoking pipes, copper scrubber, an empty stamp bag and a digital scale.She was taken to the Butler County Prison where an additional search found her with an additional drug pipe, police said.Harbison was arraigned on three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession of drug paraphernalia, false identification to law enforcement authorities and public drunkenness.
Tuesday — A Beaver County man was charged with drunken driving stemming from a May 11 incident on Kiester Road. Police said a patrol officer initially spotted a man riding without eye protection. The officer also couldn't see a red taillight.A short time later, the officer stopped the man, who was now walking down Kiester Road. The man, identified as Elijah J. Trunick, 24, of Beaver Falls, admitted that he had been drinking alcohol, according to court documents.Police arrested Trunick after following field sobriety testing. He was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.131 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Tuesday — Phillip M. McFall, 22, of New Castle was charged with driving under the influence stemming from a traffic stop last month in Muddy Creek Township. Police said they pulled him over about 3:10 a.m. on Interstate 79 after they got a call for a car weaving on the highway.McFall admitted that he had consumed alcohol and smoked marijuana before driving, according to court documents. Police said they found him with a bag containing about 16 grams of suspected marijuana.He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.099 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Additionally, police said, he had marijuana in his system,McFall is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, failing to keep right, driving with an open container of alcohol, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and not using hazard lights.Tuesday — Donald B. Jones, 70, of Gibsonia was charged with DUI in connection with a multivehicle wreck this month on Route 422 in front of the Pilot truck stop in Muddy Creek Township. Police said when they got there May 13 they found Jones, who told them he was unable to stop his car on the wet road and rear-ended another vehicle. He subsequently failed field sobriety tests.A breath test indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.128 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. In addition to DUI, Jones is charged with driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.7:03 a.m. May 13 — Brett P. Sybert, 23, of Butler was found outside a home on Maple Street in Slippery Rock where he was not permitted.The victim told police that Sybert pulled the front screen door off and damaged a wooden fence in back of the home. Police charged the defendant with defiant trespass, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Wednesday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Rock-A-Fellas Sports Grille in Buffalo Township for violating the state liquor law April 4 by allegedly serving alcohol to a minor.An administrative law judge will hear the case.
