Jamison Funeral Home sold, renamed
HARRISVILLE — A local funeral home has passed into the hands of new owners who plan to sustain its tradition.
Holly McKinley-Weaver, her husband, Jon, and her father, Larry McKinley, purchased the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville, on Dec. 22.
The McKinley family has taken over operations of the funeral home, now named the Jamison-McKinley Funeral Home.
“It will always be Jamison Funeral Home,” McKinley-Weaver said. “(We) are honored to continue to provide the utmost care for the families of the Harrisville area.”
McKinley-Weaver said she understands why some may be upset by the change in ownership, but she is willing to work with them.
“I'd tell them to give me a holler,” she said. “I'd be more than happy to talk to them.”
Larry McKinley purchased the former Kuhns Funeral Home in 1972, operating the funeral home with his wife, Shirley, for 40 years in Clintonville.
McKinley-Weaver, who earned her degree in mortuary science in 2003, has taken the reins of the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home in Clintonville with the help of her husband, Jon Weaver, who also is a licensed funeral director. The couple also owns McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home in Knox, Clarion County.
McKinley-Weaver said Harrisville fits well with the type of areas they like to serve, and the transition should be smooth.
“I just love little towns,” she said. “I feel like they're my people.”
McKinley-Weaver said the deal transpired easily thanks to support on both sides.
“We've had a great relationship with them (the former owners),” she said. “Adam has been a dream to get all this done. It has been an easy process. He's really been fantastic.”
Adam Guthrie of Franklin sold the Jamison Funeral Home to the McKinley family with the blessing of his business partner and stepfather, Dennis Hoover.
Guthrie said the McKinley family had maintained a level of interest in the business over the last few years.
“I think it's just time to pass the torch,” Guthrie said.
