Butler man charged with criminal trespass after getting neck cut in domestic incident
A Butler man had his neck cut after allegedly entering an apartment and physically attacking two people.
Daniel G. Watters, 61, of Butler, is facing charges of felony criminal trespass of an occupied structure and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, in connection with a Saturday, Aug. 15, incident.
Watters is accused of entering an apartment and physically attacking two residents. The encounter led to one cutting Watters’ neck with a knife in self-defense, according to an affidavit in the case.
According to the affidavit, the encounter took place at Cliffside Apartments on South McKean Street shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday. Both individuals in the apartment told police the incident began when Watters stormed into the apartment in hopes of confronting a woman over a wallet. During the confrontation, according to the affidavit, a male individual in the apartment shielded his head with his arms, believing Watters was about to attack him.
During this time, the woman entered the apartment and pushed Watters, according to police. After she pushed Watters, she told police she was grabbed by the neck and pushed to the ground, leading to her cutting Daniel’s neck with a knife.
According to police, an officer witnessed Watters in a hallway in the apartment building with an apparent knife wound to his neck upon arrival. According to the officer, Watters was heavily intoxicated and smelled like alcohol.
A preliminary hearing has yet to be set for Watters.
