Police: Man arrested for attempting to burglarize Wacky Wash

A man is accused of breaking into a Butler car wash and causing thousands of dollars in damage in late July.

Aidan A. Hardisty, 34, was charged with a felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in connection with a July 31 incident in which he is accused of attempting to burglarize the Wacky Wash Car Wash on Monroe Street.

According to an affidavit, on or around Friday, July 31, an individual broke into the car wash building and attempted to break into a cash box, causing the owners to call police. The affidavit states he gained access to a storage area and rummaged through it looking for items to take.

According to the affidavit, the individual caused $4,600 worth of damage to the car wash property, including a door lock which was cut and a door to the storage area which was damaged when he kicked it open.

According to the affidavit, Hardisty was identified through security camera footage of the incident.

Police said Hardisty was previously arrested for damaging property at the same car wash.

A preliminary hearing for Hardisty has yet to be scheduled.

No address was listed for Hardisty in the affidavit.
