Albert D. Croskey, 74, of Gibsonia died Monday in the comfort of his family homestead.

Born Feb. 20, 1936, in Gibsonia, he was the son of the late Paul and Nellie (Kauffman) Croskey.

He was the beloved husband for 45 years of Eileen (McElheny) Croskey, who he married April 3, 1965; loving father of David C. Croskey of Gibsonia, Marjorie J. (Kevin) Recker of Zelienople, Daniel J. (Beth) Croskey of Atlanta, Ga., and Andrew R. Croskey of Wichita, Kan.; brother of Samuel (Lucille) Croskey of Gibsonia; and loving grandfather of Morgan, Grant, Madison and Garrett Recker and Jacob Croskey.

A lifelong farmer, Albert was the fifth generation Croskey to live and work his family farm, which has been in his family since 1832.

A graduate of Mars High School, Albert also was a self-employed backhoe operator, who served the local community for many years.

He loved to travel to the U.S. National Parks and strongly encouraged others to visit and see them. Albert also loved his dear border collies.

<B>CROSKEY</B> — The family of Albert D. Croskey, who died Monday, March 29, 2010, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Schellhaas Funeral Home</B>, 250 yards off Route 8 at 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, Richland Township. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home and will conclude at the graveside in Mount Royal Cemetery, Glenshaw.In memory of Al, his family asks to please take time to visit a park, either national or local, to plant and grow something of choice or to donate to the National Parks Conservation Association.Please pay tribute or offer condolences at www.schellhaasfh.com.
