Weissert

Wilson P. "Bud" Weissert, 93, of Zelienople, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday morning at the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople.

Born in Mars, April 25, 1917, he was the son of the late Wilson J. and Sarah Jane Patterson Weissert.

He was a retired foreman for the Meter Division of Duquesne Light, retiring from the Beaver County office.

A captain in the U.S. Army, he served his country during World War II and the Korean War. He was a lieutenant colonel for 30 years in the Air Force Reserves.

He was a member of the Rochester Presbyterian Church and most recently had attended the First Bible Baptist Church in Harmony. He was a member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM and also was in the New Castle Consistory.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Raisley Weissert, who he married Nov. 6, 1936; a nephew who they raised as a son, Larry Hays and his wife, Susan, of Evans City; grandchildren, Benjamin Hays and his wife, Deborah, and Sarah and Timothy Hays; and four great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a brother, Paul Weissert in Lafayette, Ind.; two sisters, Elizabeth Sarver in Zelienople and Laura Rosebaugh of Youngstown, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Charles Weissert, and a sister, Mary Nicholson.

"Bud" Weissert, who died Sunday, May 9, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Smith, pastor of the First Bible Baptist Church of Harmony, officiating.
