A Newell man died Sunday, Sept. 27, after being pinned between two door machines at the Cleveland-Cliffs Coke Works plant in Monessen, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner.

Jeffrey Smith, 53, was pronounced deceased at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, according to Coroner John A. Ackerman. The cause and manner of death are still being determined.

The incident was reported around 4:15 p.m. Sunday. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Monessen Police Department are investigating.

An autopsy will be performed by Dr. Jennifer Hammers Pathology.
