Mars woman accused of kicking officer during arrest
A Mars woman was arrested after police said she kicked her arresting officer in the groin after allegedly trespassing in the Adams Township Municipal Building.
Jennifer Lynne Lower, 49, is being charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor resisting arrest and misdemeanor defiant trespassing following an incident Thursday, July 9.
Adams Township police said they received a report from the township office of a woman with a dog in the lobby who kept ringing a service bell but would not answer the secretary.
According to police, the responding officer encountered Lower and asked her how he could help. Police said she did not answer, turned away and began ringing the bell again.
Police said when the officer asked again, she continued to ring the bell until police took it. The officer asked her to leave, and when she inaudibly refused, he told her she was under arrest.
Police said she began to resist and a second officer arrived to assist. Lower kept resisting until she kicked the second officer in the groin and the officer tased her, police said.
According to police, a third officer assisted and was able to get Lower handcuffed. She remained combative while being transported to a holding cell, police said.
Police said the first two officers were left with cuts on their arms and the officer who was kicked had his taser damaged in the incident. The walls of the township office lobby were also damaged, police said.
Lower’s preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz. Her bail has been set at $25,000.
