Butler woman accused of vandalizing vehicle with metal bat
A Butler woman is accused of vandalizing a vehicle with a metal baseball bat.
Michelle Mia Gibson, 54, was charged Sunday, July 12, with one felony count each of aggravated assault and criminal mischief and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession following an incident Saturday.
Police said they were dispatched to the 400 block of Eau Claire Street in Butler for reports of a woman damaging vehicles on the street with a metal baseball bat. Police arrived and found Gibson being restrained by a man.
The man and another witness told police they were inside their home when they heard loud banging coming from the street and saw Gibson smashing their Kia with a metal bat. They exited their home and confronted Gibson, and she began approaching them while raising the bat.
Police said one of the men was able to grab the bat before Gibson struck him, and they both fell. When she got up, Gibson moved to attack the other man, police said.
Police said the bat caused significant damage, leaving dents and the glass roof of the vehicle and its driver’s side front window broken. They also found two metal smoking devices and related paraphernalia in Gibson’s belongings.
Gibson’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
