James Reed Surrena, 45, of 139 State St., Grove City, died at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Grove City Medical Center.

Born in Grove City, Dec. 9, 1961, he was the son of the late William Reed Surrena and Virginia Courson Surrena.

He was a 1980 graduate of the Grove City High School and was an insurance agent for the Colonial Insurance Co. of Grove City. He formerly owned and operated the J.R.S. Coney Island Restaurant and also had been a barber and the owner of the Surrena Barbershop, which was the former Himes Barbershop, all in Grove City. He also formerly owned the Surrena All State Insurance Agency in Slippery Rock.

Mr. Surrena was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Grove City. He also belonged to the F&AM Lodge 603, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1895 and the VFW Post 519, all of Grove City, and the Harrisville American Legion Post.

Surviving are his wife, Candi Jo Hughes Surrena, whom he married April 10, 2006; three sons, Bradley J. Wilson and his fiancée, Chelsea Weinel, of Grove City, Bryan Wilson of New Wilmington and Cameron D. Kohnen of Grove City, and a daughter, MacKenzie M. Meyer at home.

Also surviving are a sister, Karen Spence and her husband, Joseph, of Grove City; two brothers, Wiliam D. Surrena and his wife, Christine, of Sandy Lake and Donald Kuhns and his wife, Susan, of Mercer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dave and Tracy Hughes of Mercer; several nieces and nephews; two great-nephews, and a great-niece.

A niece, Dawn Marie Kuhns, preceded him in death.

<B>SURRENA </B>— Friends of James Reed Surrena, who died Saturday, March 3, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Burial will be at the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
