11:30 a.m. Sunday — At least two people were hurt in a four-vehicle, chain-reaction accident on South Monroe Street. The crash happened as three vehicles were stopped at a red light and began when a car driven by Gloria J. Rodgers, 58, of Butler rear-ended another car driven by Kimberly J. Williams, 38, of Chicora.In turn, Williams' car was forced into the back of a sport utility vehicle driven by Vernon Ehrman, 86, of Butler, which was then pushed into the rear of a car driven by William Jarvie, 59, of Butler.Ehrman and Jarvie, who both were wearing seat belts, suffered unknown injuries. It was not immediately known if the other drivers and a passenger in Rodgers' car were injured. Police said Rodgers was cited for careless driving.7:01 p.m. Saturday — Ashley M. Kudamik, 28, of Lyndora faces drug charges after police said they found her under the influence of narcotics and sitting on a sidewalk at North Main and Brady streets. A search of her purse turned up prescription drugs including sedatives, a stamp bag of suspected heroin, seven syringes and other contraband.Police said Kudamik is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.Saturday — Someone tried to force open a concession stand at Pullman Park. The would-be burglar failed but made off with a fire extinguisher, valued at $75, that was in the park's lobby area.Saturday — An unknown vandal damaged a decorative light fixture at an apartment in the 300 block of South Main Street. Damage was estimated at $50.1:45 p.m. Friday — Zebulon C. Cranmer, 38, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck another vehicle at North Main and North streets. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.322 percent, or more than four times the 0.08 percent level considered intoxicated under state law. Richard Shannon, 62, of Butler Township was driving the other vehicle.State Police, ButlerSunday — An unknown thief stole $545 in property from unsuspecting employees at stores in the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Police said the suspect, a white male, between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. entered the back rooms at a number of stores and took a wallet, two cell phones and a pack of cigarettesSunday — Someone broke in a bait dispenser and took about $30 in coins at the Appalachian Trails Sport Store on Route 422 in Prospect. The theft happened between midnight and 5:30 a.m.9:53 a.m. Saturday — Two men were hurt, one seriously, in a head-on collision on Prospect Road just north of Little Creek Road in Connoquenessing Township.The crash happened when Larry W. Cratty Jr., 22, of Morrilton, Ark., lost control of his northbound car, crossed the double yellow line and struck a southbound pickup truck driven by James H. Turner Jr., 51, of Evans City. Cratty was trapped in the wreckage following the crash.A medical helicopter later flew Cratty to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio, with serious injuries. Turner was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.Police said Cratty, who was not wearing a seat belt, faces a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed. Turner was wearing a seat belt.Friday — Police filed felony charges against Matthew R. Ratay, 31, no address given, in connection with the theft of several items he allegedly took while house sitting at a home on Radar School Road in Forward Township between June 18 and 29.Police said Ratay allegedly sold some of the stolen items at a music store in Monroeville, Allegheny County. Ratay is charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property.5:20 a.m. Thursday — An unknown burglar stole an unspecified amount of money, credit card receipts and scratch-off lottery tickets from the bar area of the Longhorn Corral Saloon and Motel on Route 422 in Franklin Township.Thursday — A large wooden sign was taken from Armstrong Farms on Ekastown Road in Clinton Township. The sign, valued at $600, was stolen Wednesday or Thursday.8:28 p.m. Wednesday — Erin J. Zito, 40, of Cabot was hurt when the minivan she was driving struck a utility pole along Winfield Road, just west of Bear Creek Road in Winfield Township. Police said Zito, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.3 a.m. July 1 — An unknown vandal knocked over a metal garbage can and an outdoor electrical containment box, and destroyed the glass cover to a chandelier at the University Village Apartments in Slippery Rock Township.2:33 p.m. June 28 — Charles V. Fisher, 58, of Lower Burrell, Westmoreland County, was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving struck the rear of a sport utility vehicle on Bonniebrook Road just north of Cemetery Road in Summit Township. The collision knocked Fisher off the cycle and sent him sliding across the road.Fisher, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Sunday — An unknown burglar stole a Karcher power washer and a Montgomery Ward rototiller from a Grove City man's unlocked detached garage and shed from a home on Eakin Road in Irwin Township. The stolen property, worth $350, was taken between Thursday and Sunday.
12:05 a.m. Sunday — Dale W. Schall, 56, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 at the entrance to the Walmart in East Franklin Township.11:25 p.m. Saturday — Gregory S. Scardina, 33, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 268 in East Franklin Township.Saturday — Fifty youth rod and reel fishing sets were among some of the property taken from a storage trailer at the rear of Bauer Block Inc. on Topsoil Drive in West Franklin Township. The stolen fishing equipment, owned by the Arrow Head chapter of Trout Unlimited, was taken between June 17 and Saturday.Police noted that Trout Unlimited was using the equipment for youth fishing programs.
7 p.m. Saturday — Paul C. Wolfe, no age given, of Butler lost control of his pickup truck that was towing a boat and traveled off Interstate 79 in Jackson Township, Mercer County, causing the boat to come off its trailer.8:40 p.m. July 13 — An unidentified vehicle struck a mailbox along Brent Road, just southeast of Leesburg Grove City Road in Springfield Township. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.
