BC3 makes literacy course changes
BUTLER TWP — Because of in increase in demand for several adult literacy classes, Butler County Community College has made changes in several of these classes.
A free financial literacy class will be on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 5, 12, 19. Instruction will include practice in budgeting, check book management, interest rates, reading paychecks and bills.
Discussions will include ways to meet increasing costs on a fixed income.
A new, free English as a second language class has been added on Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The focus will be on workplace communication skills.
The adult literacy reading class has changed location. It continues to meet on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The new location is the Butler Public Library meeting room.
Adults participate in this class to improve their reading, to better understand mail and email, current events, directions and work related material.
The Adult Literacy Program continues to offer free math and reading adult basic education in a classroom or with a tutor.
In addition, GED classes meet at the Butler and Cranberry campuses of Butler County Community College.
