West Sunbury man charged with contraband possession
A West Sunbury man was found with suspected cocaine in a search conducted by guards before he was taken into the county jail, according to charges filed Monday.
James Noblit, 41, of West Sunbury, was found with suspected crack cocaine and arrested following a Thursday incident. When asked if he had more drugs on him, he repeatedly denied it, according to police. However, when prison guards searched Noblit, they found a white cylindrical container containing more suspected crack cocaine.
Earlier that day, state police arrested him on outstanding warrants after a reported “disturbance” between him and his brother-in-law at the latter’s home in Clay Township.
Upon their arrival, police found Noblit hiding behind a refrigerator in the residence’s garage.
He was charged with felony contraband/controlled substance and one misdemeanor count each of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered.
Bail for Noblit has been set at $15,000. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 13, before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
