William D. Black

William D. Black, 57, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of the Valencia and Mars area, died May 1 at the Hospice House in Cape Coral.

Born in Pittsburgh, July 6, 1952, he was the son of Robert D. Black in New Mexico and the late Helen Campbell Smith.

He was a quality control inspector for the Volkswagen Assembly Plant in Mount Pleasant.

He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his father, surviving are his wife, Cheri Florida Black, who he married Aug. 4, 1978. He was the father of Jessica Richey (Jeremy) of Mars; sons, Jeremy Black (Rebecca) in Florida and Joshua Black, (Jacqueline Parr) of Mars; and daughters, Terri and Tracy. He was the grandfather of Brooke and Kaylee Black and Cadence and Austin Richey; and brother of Robert Black of Florida. Also surviving are his half-brothers and half-sister, Buddy, Brian and Janet.

<B>BLACK</B> — Friends of William D. Black, who died Saturday, May 1, 2010, are invited to attend a graveside service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, in the Mars Cemetery.
