Dorothy M. “Dotty” (Fennell) Stebler

Dorothy M. “Dotty” (Fennell) Stebler, 90, of Cranberry Township passed away Wednesday.

She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Philip F. Stebler Jr.; and the loving mother of Edward Stebler, Karen (Richard) Nadrash, Dennis (Donna) Stebler, Gary (Nancy) Stebler and the late Kenneth Stebler.

She was the sister of the late Harry Fennell, Wilmer Fennell, Betty Cornell and Lawrence Fennell.

Dorothy is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 grandchildren.

Dotty attended Taylor Allderdice High School and spent one year at the Pennsylvania College for Women. She was the co-owner, costume designer and seamstress of Esser Costume Company from 1945 to 1975 and was past president of the Pittsburgh Haycettes. Dotty designed the first-place award costumes for competition at the National Costumers Association Convention in 1968.

She was also a ceramic teacher for 13 years and won “best of show” for original raised nationality figures on a world globe at the Pittsylania Ceramic Guild Tri-State competition in 1962.

Dotty designed and made the wreaths used annually at the Cranberry Township Veterans Memorial Day ceremony at North Boundary Park from 1999 to the present. As an associate member of the Ohio Valley Marine Corps league, she was assistant coordinator for three years with the Toys for Tots program. In 2004, Dotty compiled their annual scrapbook that won first place in the state and national competitions.

She created the nose design drawing for a refueling plane of the 171st National Guard U.S. Air Force in 2006.

Dotty creatively designed and made greeting cards for all occasions. She enjoyed making gifts, using ordinary recycling items, something from nothing. Dotty made custom Christmas gifts for family and friends with a different theme each year.

She had a love for God, family and her God-given artistic talent.

STEBLER — Friends of Dorothy M. “Dotty” (Fennell) Stebler, who died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ferdinand Church.
