Hasychak

Joseph J. “Joe” Hasychak, 85, of Butler, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026.

Born Jan. 23, 1941, in Butler, he was the son of the late Charles B. and Jennie O. (Ritchey) Hasychak.

Joe was a 1958 graduate of Butler High School, where he played in the Butler Marching Band. He went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He and his wife, Rhonda, stayed in Washington, D.C., for 10 years, where he worked for the district court system. Joe earned his accounting degree from Benjamin Franklin University and then earned his bachelor’s in business administration from Robert Morris College in 1978.

Upon returning to Butler, Joe made his career with Heckett Engineering as a manager in overseas and domestic accounting until his retirement in 2006. For 32 years, Joe served as Butler Township commissioner, as well as being on the board for the Butler County Blind Association and the Butler Transit Authority. He was a member of the Butler/Victory Lodge No. 272 and the American Legion Post No. 778 in Lyndora. Joe was an avid stamp collector and loved golf. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rhonda (Neely) Hasychak, whom he married Aug. 8, 1964; his brother, John (Sue) Hasychak; four nephews and one niece.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles L. (Janet) Hasychak.

HASYCHAK — Family and friends of Joseph J. “Joe” Hasychak, who died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A Masonic service will be held at 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home, with a funeral service immediately following at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Merry Meloy officiating.

Joe will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
