Butler Collaborative for Families hosting Suicide prevention training
The Butler Collaborative for Families is partnering with the Butler County Suicide Coalition to host a free QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training at noon Thursday, Sept. 10, at Family Pathways, 100 Brugh Ave., Butler.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer — three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide, said a news release from BCF.
Participants will learn common myths and facts about suicide. they will also learn how to identify potential warning signs, how to ask direct questions to assess the situation, how to persuade someone in crisis to stay safe until help is available and how to refer that person to appropriate professional support.
Amy Cirelli and Lena Southworth, co-chairwomen of the Butler County Suicide Coalition, will lead the training.
