Jackson Township police: Ohio man posts threatening video

An Ohio man is accused of threatening another man in Jackson Township and posting a video of the confrontation to Facebook without the man’s consent. The video was shared to several groups.

Jackson Township police charged Martin Alexander Mitchell, 42, of St. Clairsville, Ohio, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, with felony disclosing intercepted communications and one misdemeanor count each of terroristic threats and harassment following the Oct. 4 incident.

Police were alerted to the incident after Mitchell sent the man a text message that reportedly read “I am coming for you” with other threats against the man’s wife. Police said the man filed a protection from abuse order against Mitchell in Erie County on Oct. 6.

After the PFA was served, police said Mitchell shared a video on Facebook of the two arguing. Police said the video includes audio of Mitchell challenging the man to a fight to the death and threatening the man if he refuses.

Police said Mitchell recorded and posted the video without the man’s knowledge or consent. The video was shared to 16 Facebook groups with more than 1.25 million combined members, police said.

Mitchell’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz.
