Bar association foundation awards annual grants
The Butler County Bar Association Foundation made it’s 10th annual grant awards, giving $17,500 in grants to seven organizations that serve county residents.
Established in 2015 as the charitable arm of the Butler County Bar Association, the Foundation has awarded over $230,000 in grants over the last 10 years, advancing its mission to promote access to justice, support legal education and strengthen the community by supporting those who serve others.
Joseph Smith, foundation chairman and assistant public defender, announced the grant awards Wednesday, July 9, at the county commissioners meeting. The money for the grants is donated by attorneys who are members of the bar and their law firms.
The awardees are the Butler County Humane Society, Butler Memorial Hospital, ARC of Butler County, Butler County Symphony, the Domestic Relations Association of Pennsylvania, Buffalo Township Elementary PTO and the Center for Community Resources.
“Our members are deeply committed to giving back and it is a pleasure to support these organizations working at the heart of our community,” Smith said.
Smith presented the grants to the organizations at a June 25 event at Olive & Rye Café in Butler.
“We are proud to celebrate this important milestone and reflect on the partnerships we’ve built within the community.” said Janis Hackett, executive director. “This achievement is a testament to the generosity of our members, the dedication of our board and the incredible work being done by local nonprofits every day.”
