An Allegheny County man was placed into the county Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program in county court on Wednesday, on allegations that he fought with police.

Bernard B. King, 25, of Jefferson Hills, was placed into the program with one year of probation by Judge William Shaffer. He was also ordered to complete 30 hours of community service and pay court costs.

One stipulation of the agreement was that after six months, the case could be revisited for termination consideration.

King was initially charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and defiant trespass after an incident at Slippery Rock Towing and Repair on North Main Street on April 23.

Slippery Rock police were called to the location after a report that King and another man were screaming at the owner. The men were demanding their vehicle back but could not pay for services, according to court documents. The owner told them to leave but they refused.

Troopers got there and found King and another man standing in the entry way of the shop. The officers told both men to walk out of the building.

Police did not identify the other man, who walked out. But King refused to leave, court documents said. He then took an “aggressive stance” as one of the troopers approached him. He told the officer, “Don't.”

When the trooper grabbed King's wrist, documents said, King tried to push the officer away. He was eventually taken to the ground and continued to wrestle with police while flailing his arms.
