Richard K. McClymonds, 79, of Nelson Street, Grove City, died unexpectedly at 1:40 p.m. Sunday at Grove City Medical Center. He formerly lived in Liberty Township, Mercer County, for 40 years.

Born in Leesburg on July 21, 1930, he was the son of Clifford James McClymonds and Anna Sweezy McClymonds.

He married Virginia A. Patterson on June 20, 1953.

He retired in 1993 from Local 47, Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, where he had worked since 1964.

Mr. McClymonds was a member of North Liberty Presbyterian Church, Liberty Township.

He was a graduate of Grove City High School, Class of 1950 and was a member of the F&AM Lodge 603 of Grove City and the New Castle Consistory. He was a former Little League coach and junior wrestling coach in Grove City, a former trustee at the North Liberty Church and played on the church softball team. He was an avid sportsman, and he enjoyed hunting and playing golf.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia, at home; a daughter, Lynn Schulte and her husband, Aaron, of Wilton, Calif; a son, Mark C. McClymonds and his wife, Susan, of Butler; four grandchildren, Makayla Schulte, Megan McClymonds, Kelsey Schulte and Jenna McClymonds; two sisters, Patricia Atwell and her husband Charles, of Titusville, Fla., and Ruth Baker of Grove City; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and George V. McClymonds.

McClymonds, who died Sunday, May 9, 2010, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Mahaffey, pastor of North Liberty Presbyterian Church, officiating.
