Robert Rodgers
Robert “Jim” Rodgers, 73, of Cowansville, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 31, 1950, in Kittanning, to the late Robert A. and Esther G. (McNutt) Rodgers.
He was a Sugarcreek Township supervisor for more than 30 years and a truck driver.
Jim was a Christian. He served in the military in Vietnam.
He was a Mason, a lifetime member of Sugarcreek Township Volunteer Fire Department and a member of American Legion Post 488.
Jim enjoyed farming, hunting, horse pulling, side-by-side rides with his beloved dog, Gizmo, and evening meals with his family. The daily routine consisted of making rounds on the farm with Gizmo to check on cattle, especially during calving season. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Deacon, and teaching him both good and bad habits.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jodie (Jason) Rodgers and Rebecca (Brandon) Northime; grandson, Deacon Northime; brother, Roy (Debra) Rodgers; sister, Shirley Rodgers; brothers-in-law, Bruce Stouffer and Barry (Debbie) Stouffer, all of Cowansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Rodgers, whom he married Aug. 25, 1972, and who passed away Aug. 12, 1996; and his parents.
RODGERS — Friends of Robert “Jim” Rodgers, who died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 832 E. Brady Road, Cowansville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Swick officiating. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment is in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
