My son, Richard A. Goldinger, has served as the district attorney of Butler County since 2008. During his tenure, Butler County has remained a safe community to work, live and raise our kids. We have a low crime rate, good schools and a growing population.

He has also devoted his career to public service. First, as a defense attorney for indigent defendants and for the last 16 years as DA. I understand that public service often can be a thankless, yet rewarding, calling.

His Independent opponent in the November election has, for at least the third time as a candidate, decided to run a negative attack and smear campaign against him. She has attempted to discredit his word and his work as district attorney with lies and deceit. She claims to be the better candidate. But what has she done?

She has never worked in the criminal justice system. She has never worked in public service and has spent countless dollars on her own smear campaign rather than for the good of the community.

She was also an integral part of the division of the Republican Party in Butler County. Now that she has splintered that group, she changes her party to Independent to run for office. This is the second time she has done this.

I urge you to vote for my son, Richard A. Goldinger, on Nov. 7 for the office of District Attorney of Butler County.
