William Anthony Nulph

William Anthony Nulph, 80, of 129 Meadow View Drive, New Bern, N.C., died May 4 at his home.

Born March 3, 1930, in Evans City, he was a son of James E. and Elizabeth Mae Burr Nulph.

He was previously married to the former Norma Alexander. He married Beryl E. Smith Nulph on Oct. 1, 2000. She survives at their home in New Bern, N.C.

He was a 1947 graduate of Evans City High School, where he played the tenor saxophone in the band. He then graduated from Stenotype Institute of Pittsburgh in 1948.

He was a private first class in the National Guard of Pennsylvania, Battery B, 724th AAA Gun Battalion, where he was honorably discharged in 1958.

Mr. Nulph retired from Blair Strip Steel in 1987, where he was a purchasing agent and inside sales representative for more than 31 years.

He was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of New Castle, Pa., and New Bern, N.C.

He enjoyed ballroom dancing, playing golf and going to flea markets and yard sales. He also liked remodeling homes and mobile homes for resale.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Bern, N.C.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Diane Rene Nulph of Morrisville, Pa.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Drew H. and Terri Nulph of Portsmouth, N.H., and Darin W. Nulph of Savannah, Ga.; one brother and sister-in-law, Edward C. and Shirley Nulph of Evans City; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley M. and Dr. Dayne Wahl of Zelienople; and one granddaughter, Casey Nulph of Portsmouth, N.H.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David J. Nulph in 1976; and one sister, Esther M. Green.

<B>NULPH</B> — Visitation for William Anthony Nulph, who died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at <B>R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory</B>, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Ron Wanless of Croton United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O.
