Shooting accident injures hunter at game bird farm
MIDDLESEX TWP — A man suffered what appear to be non-life threatening injuries Monday, when he was shot while hunting.
The incident took place just before 9 a.m. at Four Seasons Game Bird Farm, 115 List Hill Road, Valencia, according to Sgt. Randy Ruediger of the Middlesex Township police.
The victim, Roy Yockey, 56, of Cowansville, Armstrong County, was at the facility with a friend.
According to Ruediger, the friend attempted to shoot a bird and Yockey was standing in the path of the shot. He was struck by pellets from the shot in the face and chest.
Yockey was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment. Ruediger said it did not appear the injuries were life-threatening.
The incident remains under investigation, though officials believe there was no malicious intent.
“We're not going to make a judgment call, but it would appear to be accidental at this point,” Ruediger said.
Calls to Four Seasons Game Bird Farm were unanswered, and information on Yockey's condition was not available.
