12:08 p.m. Thursday — A Westmoreland County man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a former girlfriend during a domestic dispute at her home on Spang Avenue.
The defendant, Richard J. Brown, 38, of New Kensington, is accused of punching the woman in the eye. The woman said Brown also “bashed” her head on the toilet four days earlier, according to court documents.
Police said the woman had bruising around the left eye and swelling on top of the head. She also had injuries to both lips.
Brown was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
Nov. 28 — Jesse J. Wahler, 25, of Butler was arrested on charges that he allegedly struck a young child in the face during a domestic incident in the city.
Wahler’s girlfriend showed up at the police station to report the alleged incident that occurred between 8:15 and 8:30 p.m. Nov. 27. She accused the defendant of hitting their 2-year-old son in the mouth, causing cuts and bleeding, according to court documents.
Police said she also provided them with photos of the injuries.
Wahler was subsequently picked up and arraigned on a charge of simple assault. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.
[naviga:h3]Butler Township Police[/naviga:h3]
4:24 p.m. Monday — Damien Smith, 34, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend during a domestic dispute in a vehicle parked in the Walmart parking lot at Moraine Pointe Plaza.
The 33-year-old woman, who is from Butler, suffered minor injuries in the incident. Police said Smith also was found with suspected heroin.
He was arraigned on charges of simple assault, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $20,000 bail following arraignment.
[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]
12:40 a.m. Thursday — A Centre County teen was arrested for suspected drugged driving after police stopped him going the wrong-way on South Center Street.
Police said they subsequently determined Marcus Woodford, 19, of Spring Mills, Centre County, was under the influence of marijuana. He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
8:53 p.m. Nov. 25 — Juliet Moen, 23, of State College, Centre County, was found with suspected marijuana and other contraband in her dormitory room at Grove City College. Officers were called to the dorm for a report of an odor of marijuana, according to a police report. Moen is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
1:09 p.m. Sunday — One person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck on the 1700 block of Route 8 southbound in Center Township.
The crash occurred, according to a police report, when a sport utility vehicle driven by Clyde T. Jones, 57, of Slippery Rock struck another SUV that had stopped to make a left turn.
Jones swerved to the right, but was unable to avoid hitting the other vehicle, which was driven by Thomas J. Koessler, 76, of Sarver.
Jones’ passenger, Cheryl L. Jones, 58, of Slippery Rock was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with an apparent minor wrist injury.
Police cited Clyde Jones for following too closely to another vehicle.
11:48 a.m. Nov. 28 — Scott L. Bailey, 25, of Brady Township was allegedly found with boxes full of suspected drug-smoking devices following a traffic stop in Butler.
Police said they pulled Bailey over on the 100 block of CDC Drive for having an expired license plate on his sport utility vehicle. While talking to the defendant, according to court documents, troopers noticed a glass smoking apparatus on the vehicle’s passenger side.
He was subsequently arrested after police learned he was wanted on two warrants.
A search of the SUV turned up boxes containing a combined 16 glass smoking devices, documents said.
Bailey is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without insurance or valid inspection, failing to sign his vehicle registration card, failing to carry his driver’s license and registration card, and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
Monday — Police reported that they are investigating the theft of $211 worth of diesel fuel in October at the Jiffy Mart on Route 422 in Worthington.
The unknown thief, according to a police report, pumped the gas into a truck between 6:45 and 6:50 a.m. Oct. 29 and drove off without paying for it.
3:15 p.m. Sunday — Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle, hit-and-run crash in East Franklin Township. The wreck occurred after an unknown driver traveling south on Montgomery Road crossed into the opposing lane.
Heather L. Frederick, 38, of Kittanning, who was northbound, swerved her car to avoid a collision. She traveled off the road. But when she tried to re-enter the road, according to a police report, her car struck a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by Jeffrey L. Lash, 64, of Adrian.
Lash as well as Frederick’s passenger, Robert J. Wolfe, 37, of Adrian, both suffered apparent minor injuries. They were treated at the scene. Lash was wearing a seat belt, but Wolfe was not.
The car and SUV were towed. The East Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and Kittanning EMS assisted police.
6:56 a.m. Nov. 10 — Icy road conditions on Buffalo Bridge were blamed for a one-vehicle accident in South Buffalo Township.
Police said Warren A. Dukes, 34, of McKeesport, Allegheny County, lost control of his pickup truck on slippery Route 28 north about 1½ miles north of Exit 17.
The truck began to fishtail on the bridge before hitting a concrete barrier.
