Elizabeth J. 'Betty' Magyar
Elizabeth J. “Betty” Magyar, 93, of Butler passed away Thursday at Fair Winds Manor.
Born on Oct. 21, 1921, in Monongahela, she was the son of the late Andrew Anthony and Johanna Wascovitch Anthony.
Betty was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Thorncreek United Methodist Church, the Saxonburg Golden Agers, and the Saxonburg 60 Plus Club. Betty was a volunteer at the Harmarville Rehabilitation Center, making lap robes. She was active in the Southeast Senior Center. She visited the sick along with her pastor, the Rev. Kurt Knobel, and would help anyone in need.
Betty enjoyed canning and crocheting. She loved her dog, Cupcake. The light of her life was her great-grandson, Tanner.
Surviving are her son, Frank (Sandra) Magyar of Butler; her granddaughter, Stacy Matoka of Evans City; her great-grandson, Tanner Grosick of Evans City; her stepgrandson, Richard Haskin of Slippery Rock, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Magyar, who passed away on Feb. 15, 1998; her four brothers, and her four sisters.
Magyar — The friends of Elizabeth J. “Betty” Magyar, who passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.Additional visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at the Thorncreek United Methodist Church, 142 Rockdale Road, Butler, with the Rev. Kurt Knobel officiating.
