5:03 a.m. Thursday - Mary Wetzel, 33, of Butler Township was arrested for driving under the influence on New Castle Road.
7:13 a.m. Wednesday - Thieves stole 45 guardrail posts, 38 cable guardrails and 20 guardrail anchors from a road construction site on Lindsay Road near the Interstate 79 ramps. The stolen property, owned by Green Acres Contracting of Scottdale, Westmoreland County, is valued at $2,060.8:53 p.m. Sunday - Vehicles driven by James A. Brown, 23, of Ellwood City, Lawrence County, and Paul Metzger, 37, of Zelienople collided on Route 68 near Whitney Drive. Both drivers suffered minor injuries. Police cited Brown for illegally crossing or entering a roadway, and for not using his seat belt.2:54 p.m. Sept. 16 - Vehicles driven by Gary Walker Jr., 24, of West Sunbury and Bridget Newman, 37, of Ellwood City, Lawrence County, collided on Route 19 near Meredith Battery. Walker was cited for driving too fast for conditions.12:25 p.m. Sept. 15 - Donna Lutz, 40, of Evans City swerved her car to avoid a vehicle that pulled onto Hartmann Road, and struck a business sign in the Hartmann's Deep Valley Golf Course parking lot.Police cited the driver of the other vehicle - Grace Katarincic, 77, of Cranberry Township - for illegally entering or crossing a roadway.2:01 a.m. Sept. 6 - Paul Jestead, 22, of Harmony was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol at Little Creek and Mercer roads.
7:15 p.m. Thursday - A sport utility vehicle driven by Howard Scheidemantle, 69, of Zelienople struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.4:55 p.m. Thursday - Julie Ann Codispot, 38, and Athena Peralta, 26, both of Butler, were arrested for allegedly shoplifting clothing items at the JC Penney store at Clearview Mall in Center Township.Thursday - Three northern Butler County homes were burglarized sometime during the day. It was not known this morning if police suspect the break-ins could be related; however, in all three cases, the burglary snatched up loose change in the houses.Among the burglaries was a pair of West Liberty homes. In one of those break-ins, an unknown amount of coins was taken between 7 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. at the West Liberty Road home of Joseph and Margaret Drobenzo.In the other burglary in West Liberty, about $10 in coins and a woman's 14-caret gold, 16-inch necklace valued at $200 was taken between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the Mayer Road home of Harry Lindey.Meanwhile, between 8:54 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. about $20 in coins and a wrestling belt were taken from the Brandon Road home of Bonnie Moss in Worth Township.
10:35 a.m. Wednesday - A would-be robber walked away empty handed after he tried to hold up the Moonlight Credit Union on Main Street in West Franklin Township, Armstrong County.The unknown suspect walked into the credit union and handed a teller a note demanding money. His demand, however, was not met and the man fled without any money. Police said the suspect drove off in a gray vehicle. Investigators are reviewing videotape of the attempted robbery caught on a credit union surveillance camera.
Thursday - Someone kicked in a side door and rifled drawers in a burglary between 7:30 and 9:05 a.m. at the Blackthorn Road home of Shirley Mason in Pine Township, Mercer County. Police did not disclose if any property was taken.
