Daniel V. "Dan" Terek Sr., 88, of Middlesex Township died Sunday evening at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township.

Born in Zelienople, July 4, 1920, he was the son of the late Gasper and Helen Dlhos Terek.

Mr. Terek was a crew leader for Duquesne Light, where he had worked for more than 40 years, retiring in 1985.

In 1946, he founded Terek's Texaco Service Station in Middlesex Township, still operated by his family.

Dan was a member of the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church in Glade Mills. He belonged to the Holy Name Society and the Society of St. Vincent DePaul. He also was a member of the Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife of more than 55 years, Mary Rubrecht Terek, whom he married Dec. 29, 1943; a daughter, Carol Thompson of Middlesex Township; two sons, Daniel V. Terek Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Mars and Alan Terek and his wife, Irene, of Middlesex Township; his grandchildren, Shirley Ann Alexander and her husband, Will, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Daniel Terek III. of Bell Air, Md.; his great-grandchildren, Sophia and Lillian Alexander; a sister, Anastasia Lapic of New Brighton; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph A. Terek; his sisters, Sarah Mihalyi, Sister Hermina Terek, O.S.F., Mary Vultanski and Rose Hrotic; and by his brothers, Joseph and Gasper Terek.

"Dan" Terek Sr., who died Sunday, April 19, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, Route 8, Glade Mills, with Father Daniel Maurer of the St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg officiating. Burial will be in Holy Savior Cemetery, Richland Township.The family requests memorials be made to the Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church Building Fund, 1304 E.
