Lyndora man gets 3 to 5 years in prison for beating former girlfriend

A Lyndora man was sentenced Thursday in Common Pleas Court to serve 36 to 72 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend, who said the abuse damaged her vision, cost her her job as a model and left her youngest son traumatized after witnessing the assaults last year.

Bradley Borg, 33, was given the 3- to 5-year state prison sentence after pleading guilty to a felony charge of strangulation, and was given no further penalty for a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, which he also pleaded guilty to. In addition, he was sentenced to concurrently serve 24 to 48 months in prison after pleading guilty to felony charge of aggravated assault.

Judge Kelley Streib ordered the sentences after Borg’s then girlfriend Danielle Allman gave a victim impact statement, saying she was hospitalized with a severe concussion after one assault. The incident left her with erratic vision in her left eye, and she can no longer drive at night or look at a computer screen for long periods.

She said she lost custody of her youngest son for four months due to the abuse and her two older children hate her for being involved with Borg.

Facial injuries she suffered have cost her a modeling job, and her youngest son still has anxiety from witnessing Borg beat her, she said.

Allman said Borg threatened to burn down the homes of her mother and ex-husband.

She said she bought him a vehicle, but he placed only his name on the title, and she bought him a phone and clothes during their relationship.

Allman thanked the Victim Outreach Intervention Center of Butler for helping her deal with the aftereffects of the abuse.

Appearing by video from the county prison, where he was being held in lieu of $40,000 bail, Borg expressed regret for his actions.

“What I did to her was not right,” Borg said.

He said he regrets what he did everyday.

“I know what I did was wrong,” Borg said. He was given credit for having served 315 days in prison.

Buffalo Township police filed charges in both cases. The strangulation and resisting arrest incident took place Dec. 31, and the aggravated assault incident occurred Nov. 11.
