Fourth lawsuit filed against A.J. Myers and Sons from 2025 bus crash

A lawsuit filed last week against Kittanning-based school bus operator A.J. Myers and Sons marks the fourth suit filed as a result of a March 6, 2025, bus crash in Adams Township. The latest suit was filed by the parents of two children injured in the crash.

Heather and Brian Miller, of Mars, filed the suit Aug. 11 in Butler County Common Pleas Court on behalf of their minor children, identified as G.M. and H.M. The suit claims the children were injured when bus driver William “Bob” Miller lost control of bus No. 21 on Three Degree Road, crossed over into the oncoming lane, traveled through a field and struck a tree head-on. William Miller died in the hospital about a week after the crash.

The three other suits involving nine students who were in the bus remain open and have not been settled.

The Millers’ suit claims Myers continued employing the bus driver despite reports of him striking a street sign, failing to stop at a stop sign, colliding with another bus, not using the bus’ warning lights during a stop and striking a mailbox in the two years before the March 6 crash.

“The March 6, 2025, crash was not an isolated or unforeseeable event, but rather the culmination of a known pattern of unsafe driving behavior by Mr. Miller, which defendant A.J. Myers knew or should have known created a substantial and unreasonable risk of harm to minor passengers, including (the) plaintiff,” according to the suit.

As a result of the crash, G.M. suffered a traumatic lower jaw and oral cavity injury, oral lacerations, pain, swelling, bleeding, permanent scarring, emotional distress and limitations affecting speech, eating and daily activities, and needed multiple surgeries, according to the suit.

H.M. sustained a contusion and bruising to her right thigh and knee and pain and discomfort, and has difficulty sleeping and emotional distress, according to the suit.

The four-count suit includes two counts of negligence and two counts of negligent entrustment on behalf of the two children.

Officials at Myers could not be reached for comment.
