Esther Grace Fair

Esther Grace Fair, 74, of North Chestnut Street died at 8:32 p.m. Friday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Oct. 16,1934, in Higgins Corners Hilliards, she was the daughter of the late Carl Valentine Thompson and Ethel Grace McFadden Thompson.

Mrs. Fair was a member of The Salvation Army. She was a caregiver for the elderly and her neighbors. She volunteered in the soup kitchen and was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. She enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, and with her cat Billy and her bird Angel. She also enjoyed spending time on her front porch.

Mrs. Fair married Lewis William Fair Nov. 4, 1966. He preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1989.

She is survived by two sons, Gary W. Fair of Portersville and Stanley E. Fair and his wife, Melissa, of Fenelton; three daughters, Bonnie J. Thompson, Nancy K. Thompson Codispot and Bobbie Jo Fair, all of Butler; nine grandchildren, Christine Gould Robertson of Butler, Jesse Carothers of Slippery Rock, W. Gene Fair and Resha Fair of Butler, Jessica Fair and Dalton Fair of Chicora, Adam Fair and Caitlyn Fair of Fenelton, and Savannah Fair of Portersville; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor and Madeline Robertson of Taylors, S.C., Austin Blatt, Mikayla, Nikole, Alyssa, and Kassie Carothers of Slippery Rock; a brother, Carl Thompson Jr. of Eau Claire; a sister, Mrs. James Wyonna "Tootie" Hutchson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Toni Michelle Gould, and a brother, Chester Henry Thompson.

<B>FAIR</B> Friends and family of Esther Fair, who died Friday, April 17, 2009, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. with Maj. Paul Downing of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to help defray funeral costs to Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E.
